SAWO conducted a research about the disgust evolution of the animals during the last 15 years and it has been discovered that the animals are in great risk, whereby some of them are suffering due to lack of care and grazing, some obliterated, and others ill-treated in business and like cases. Somalis depend entirely on animals for their day to day for their survival and well being but due to ignorance they don’t take good care of them.

Therefore SAWO had discussion with Mogadishu School headmasters and teachers issues on Humane Education and agreed to start a process to include curriculum, of the primary schools, the head masters request SAWO to prepare all the necessary materials required for the curriculum & fund for humane education teachers.

During the year SAWO organized on open debate attended by Religious scholars from Mogadishu area the sheikhs initially discussed the Excerpts from the Islamic teachings on Animal Welfare and finely raised the need to translate the book into Somali language & to reach the community through media and the workshops that SAWO held
regular trainings on humane educations programmed were given to SAWO Animal rights defenders in order to train the community. SAWO translated & printed the following Somali version of Humane Education Materials on animal welfare

After SAWO having taken an oral interview and questionnaire from community, SAWO was successfully completed and met its objectives as follows:

The output of different Somali version of Humane Education MaterialsMore than 30% of the total community of Mogadishu & its surrounding displaced camps had a full understanding on animal welfare & protection of animal rights and received a massage on animal welfareThis project brought to attitude & behaviour change that result some improvement of animal welfare and reduced animal rights violation.

SAWO had some versions of HE materials that can be used during world animal week, workshops, seminars, public gathering and schools. The overall aim of the Humane Education programs was to provide animal welfare education and raising awareness of the community on matters pertaining to animals and their welfare in order to create resource persons (Animal rights defenders) among the segments of the community who helped SAWO to achieve its objectives.
